Global Inspection via Line Scan (The “Eyes” of Motion)
As the diffusion film moves through the feeder or Roll-to-Roll (R2R) system, the Line Scan Camera acts as a continuous scanner.
- Role: It performs “On-the-Fly” surface inspection.
- Function: It scans 100% of the film surface at high speeds to detect microscopic scratches, dust, or coating irregularities that occur during transit.
- Benefit: No blind spots. It captures the “Global Map” of the material, ensuring that only defect-free sections proceed to the cutting stage.
Local Precision via Area Scan (The “Brain” of Accuracy)
Once the film reaches the cutting zone, the Area Scan Camera takes over for static, high-resolution positioning.
- Role: It performs “Point-of-Cut” alignment.
- Function: It captures a high-resolution snapshot of specific fiducial markers or corners. It calculates the exact $X, Y,$ and $\theta$ (rotation) coordinates.
- Benefit: Micrometer-level alignment. It compensates for any slight physical shifting or stretching of the film that might have occurred after the initial scan.
